Just before the end of the year, the installation of the first 10 Green Recycling Kiosks was completed, paving the way for a greener Cyprus! From Mammari to Kato Pyrgos, Nicosia now boasts ten new, modern kiosks accessible to residents of mountainous and remote areas for the collection and sorting of recyclable materials.
The baton is now passed to Limassol, and soon Larnaca and Paphos will also have their own Green Kiosks!
This ambitious project will continue with the installation of a total of 15 additional Green Kiosks by the end of 2024, followed by 25 more in 2025, and the final 10 by mid-2026, ensuring nationwide coverage across Cyprus. With this, we are on track to meet our national recycling targets, creating a sustainable cycle for waste management.
The first 10 Green Recycling Kiosks have been installed in the following communities: Agrokipia, Ayioi Trimithias, Mammari, Palechori Morphou, Kalopanayiotis, Farmakas, Kato Pyrgos, Kambos, Platanistasa, and Pedoulas. The contribution of all of us is crucial for Cyprus to become a model for a greener future.
This effort does not stop here – the network of Green Kiosks will continue to expand across the country, offering residents of mountainous and remote areas a simple and direct opportunity to contribute to recycling in their own way.
The Waste Management and Circular Economy Implementation Branch of the Department of Environment urges residents of the above communities to actively participate and support the purpose of the Green Kiosks, helping to create a greener Cyprus for future generations!
