On Tuesday, March 21 2023, the LIFE IP CYzero WASTE team along with complementary funds environment officers visited the autonomous mechanical composters that have been  installed in the Municipality of Germasogeia, within the framework of the Interreg Balkan-Mediterranean BIOWASTE Project.

In particular, the community composters were installed in two (2) pilot areas of the Municipality of Germasogeia. The first pilot application was at the Atlantica Miramare Beach Hotel and the second pilot application was in three (3) parks in the Halomandres area and more precisely on Cyclades, Diamesos and Stavros Streets.

As mentioned by the Health Officer A’ of Germasogeia Municipality Mr. Timos Miseris, the households that voluntarily participate in the project, were supplied by the Municipality with biodegradable bags and a bin (10L) for bio-waste, as well as an entry card for accessing the composter.

According to Mr. Miseris, the whole project was crowned with success, while it was mentioned that citizen’s participation continues even after the end of the project.
